"My name is Alfred. I am a nearly 66 year old Swiss Veterinarian who will retire next year at the end of March. The nearer my retirement approaches, the more I tried to find out what life means after this point. I am a Rotarian since 1996 and have learnt a lot about service above self and therefore decided to engage myself in a charity project for schools in South Africa. I love cycling and my second hobby is birdwatching and thus I decided to combine these three things. I plan to set off in Mai 2015 from the northernmost point in Europe and will be cycling with the migrating birds through Europe and Africa to Cape Agulhas. One of my aims on this route is to visit as many Rotary clubs as possible. I will then give a short presentation about the Bizweni Center for Disabled Children – a project of the RC Helderberg and I hope that many Rotarians will support this project. When I found your website I have seen so many plans of you which have exactly the same objectives as mine. I am just half a year younger (28.03.1949) and I will set off half a year later in the North instead of the South. I hope we will both succeed in our projects and maybe we will even meet somewhere in the middle of the tour.
Happy cycling, Fredy”
I RECEIVED THIS COMMENT ON MY WEB. WHAT AN INSPIRATIONAL AND MOTIVATING MESSAGE – AND WHAT A MEETING IT WILL BE."
